WWII - Nissen huts in Maugersbury

Nissen huts are prefabricated steel structures for military use, usually as barracks. The photograph below shows many were sited on ground to the north and west of Maugersbury Manor.

Geoffrey Fisher ( 1931 - 2023) recalls:-

"After the war several local families took their chance to occupy the Nissen huts and they were subsequently rehoused by the local council.  Mr Stokes, “Stokey” and his family lived in a Nissen hut sited at the entrance to Park House, now replaced by the timber-built accommodation and office building. Mr Stokes built model aircraft and model steam locomotives which ran on a small gauge track along a wall near to his Nissen hut."
