In 1954, Michael Lee at Manor Farm established a poultry production unit on the site to the north of the farm buildings. The business required frequent lorry loads of feed to be delivered as well as the necessary mucking out and routine cleaning processes after each batch of chickens. Production in the Maugersbury chicken houses ceased in 1994 and in 1995 the site was sold for development to Berkshire Estates Ltd. Byrig House was completed in 1995, Rowan House in 1997 and Hylmead in 1998.
