The 1898 Sale map shows Oxleaze Farm in the valley to the south of the railway line. At that time the farmhouse and farmstead which went with it was Oxleaze House (described separately under Oxleaze House and Maugersbury Court). Over time, through land and property sales, property names, and even the spelling of names, have changed.
Oxleaze Farm was bought by Philip Lee in 1948, around the time he also purchased Manor Farm. It therefore is relevant to describe the farming business of Oxlease Farm from 1948 together with Manor Farm.
In the 1950’s, the new Oxleaze Farm house was built by Philip and Sonia Lee.
New farm buildings and farm cottages, Oxleaze Cottages, were also built and ‘The Oxleaze Herd of British Friesians’ was established. This efficient high output dairy required daily milk tankers for transporting the milk to the dairy at Moreton-in-Marsh. The herd was dispersed in 1998 and the farm sold. The photograph shows a water tower, and the grain store and grass drying barn which was part of “Manor Farm Mill Ltd” 1955 to 1960.
The photograph of heifers grazing in “Bridge Ground” shows the bridge carrying the railway line across the farm road. The railway line is also shown in the aerial photograph above of Oxleaze Farm house. The railway was closed in 1963.
