Oxlease House

The particulars of the Maugersbury Manor Estate Sale in 1898 show Oxlease Farm as being 186 acres with a farmhouse (Oxlease House), farm buildings and one farm labourer’s cottage, i.e., 4 The Crescent, the entire holding being let to Mrs Lane. The tenancy was taken over by Charles Fisher in 1903 and after his death in 1930 the tenancy was continued by his wife Christianna Charlotte Fisher and son Arthur John Fisher until 1946.  In the 1946 Sale of the Outlying Portions of the Maugersbury Estate, the Oxlease farm land was sold separately from Oxlease House.

In approximately 1946, Oxlease House was bought by Norman Lawrence and his wife Marjorie, known as Madge, (nee Fisher). Norman Lawrence died in 1969 and Madge sold the property in 1974. The barn with yard and access onto the Arch Road on the south end of the property was converted to residential use by 1980 and is now known as Hill Barn. The main house and barn were bought by Pam and Andrew Normand and, after their death, it was sold in 2000. In 2008 the house had been divided; the lower half retaining the name Oxlease House was sold and the upper half being renamed Maugersbury Court was sold in 2012. The large barn on the west side of the property was also sold with planning permission for conversion in 2012, the resulting barn conversion being named Willow Barn. The small part of the barn at the north end was retained with the Oxlease House property.
