Sycamore House

Sycamore House, originally Sycamore House Farm, is one of the six 17th-century houses in Maugersbury, built of rubble walls with Cotswold stone roofs. Sale particulars of 1898 show the house was part of the farmstead with outbuildings, cottages (4 Ivy Row and 1 The Crescent) and 248 acres of farmland let to Mr Morris.

In 1902 an Inventory and Valuation shows the owner as Mr Hewitt, the outgoing tenant as Mr William Morris and the incoming tenant as Mr W Bartlett. The farm was later purchased by the Bartlett family.

The barns on the west side of Sycamore House were sold to developer, Stuart Ray, and formed two dwellings now named Sycamore Barn and North Barn occupied in 1996.

Sycamore House together with the barns on the east side and approximately 12 acres were sold in 1991 and again to JRN Properties in 2007. The house was extensively updated, the most significant change being to make the main entrance to the property on the Pound Lane side instead of the south side. One barn conversion now known as Southwell was completed in 2010 and a second barn conversion now known as Swallow Farm was completed a few years later.
