The Old Stow Station

The property now known as The Old Stow Station was converted from Stow-on-the-Wold Stow Station.

Stow-on-the-Wold Railway Station was well over a mile from the centre of Stow-on-the-Wold. Goods for the town had to be transported up Stow Hill by horse and cart.

The following facts are known about the railway line.

·    Kingham to Bourton opened 1862

·    Extended line to to Cheltenham opened 1881

·    Stow-on-the-Wold station opened 1881

·    Iron ore from Banbury to South Wales

·    Coal from South Wales to Bliss Tweed Mills

·    Passenger services ceased 15th October 1962

·    Freight services ceased 7th September 1964

·    Land sold to neighbouring landowners
