The Rock House

The Rock House is a Grade II Listed building described as a detached house of the late C17 - early C18, mid C19 and late C19.

In the 1889 photograph below the property was known as Moulsbury House. However, it appears on the 1898 Manor Estate Sale Plan as Rock House. The sale document states that, at the time, the property was let to a Mr Carter at a yearly rent of £40. The road past The Rock House is still known locally as “Carter’s Hill”.

From 1936 Col Percy James Bailey DSO, OBE & Mrs Dorothy Bailey rented The Rock House from the Lord of the Manor until Col Bailey’s death on 1st February, 1947 aged 72 years.
