The “Tithe Barn with Close and Buildings” is shown as Plot 54 situated on the south side of Pound Lane on the plan of the Maugersbury Manor Estate Sale 1898. At that time, it formed part of the “Park Farm” holding under the tenancy of Thomas Bartlett.
In 1947 Joe and Laura Griffin built their grey rendered farmhouse on the adjacent land. They managed a herd of Jersey cows, their land being on the opposite side of Pound Lane.
The original Tythe Barn fell into disrepair and stood partially demolished from 1965 to early 1980’s. The 1984 aerial photograph shows the roadside wall of the barn still in situ.
A private purchaser bought the property in 1985 and in 2007 sold to developer Stuart Ray who built the new Tythe Farm.
