Wyck Hill Farm

Wyck Hill Farm is shown as one of the five farms on the Maugersbury Estate when the estate was for sale in 1898.  It’s easily identified on the Sale Plan and the tenant of the 126-acre farm at the time was Mr C Fisher. The Fisher family bought the farm (possibly 1947) and continued a traditional mixed farming enterprise. As with many local farms, dairying was a part of the business and the milk stand for daily milk collection can be seen in the photograph below taken in 2012.

The farm was sold in 2004 to David Bridgewater, trainer of both National Hunt and flat race horses. He trained “The Giant Bolster” who came second at 50/1 in the Betfred Gold Cup at the 2012 Cheltenham Festival.

According to British History Online, Wyck Hill Farm was once known as Reynolds Barn though Reynolds Barn may refer to the traditional Cotswold Stone Barn (below) next to the Wyck Hill Farmhouse. Also according to BHO, for most of the 19th century nearby Hyde Mill was owned by the Reynolds family.
